Meeting Minutes 3 March 2004
Place of
Meeting
Beverly Historical Society
Meeting
attendees:
Barbara Broudo, Thomas Scully, Mary Ellen Smiley, David
Shawn, Carol Mori, Sister Marguerite Ledwell, John Suminsby, Elaine Israelsohn,
Thelma Ryan, David Goss, Barbara Cook
Meeting Minutes:
-
David Shawn called the
meeting to order at 9:45.
-
Motion to approve the minutes
of the previous meeting. SO VOTED.
-
David reported that Kristen
Kobialka, our archivist, was making very good progress, and had probably half
the churches surveyed.
-
David Shawn mentioned that he
had received a communication from Bill Milhomme at the Massachusetts State
Archives that checks had been sent out to some of this year’s grant
recipients. David said that he would write an interim report in order to
get our reimbursement check.
-
David had received
suggestions for further funding sources. An ad hoc committee will help
with grant writing. One source “Preserving America” sponsored by the
White House looked particularly interesting. Essex National Heritage
Commission also has a grant program but their deadline is April 2, which may
be too close.
-
Sister Marguerite reported
that St. Mary’s may not be able to participate in the survey because the
parish is currently without a pastor, so access to records may be impossible.
Carol Mori suggest she try to contact someone from the parish 125th
anniversary committee and see if they could help. David also reported
there was some confusion at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church might not participate
because of a misunderstanding about the nature of the survey. Thelma
Ryan will talk to them to encourage their participation.
-
Discussion then followed
about the archives exhibit. Mary Ellen Smiley offered to help people
with preparing their exhibit materials. Barbara Broudo provided a
summary of preparation instructions and there was further discussion on
preparing exhibits.
The meeting then adjourned and
several members remained to begin working on their exhibits.
Respectfully submitted.
Thomas Scully,
Secretary
