Meeting Minutes 14 April 2004

Place of Meeting

Beverly Public Library

Meeting attendees:

Kristen Kobialka, Thomas Scully, Charles Wainwright, John Thomson, Barbara Broudo, David Shawn, Crystal Atherton, Elaine Israelsohn, John Suminsby, Sister Marguerite Ledwell, Barbara Cook, and Carol Mori.

Meeting Minutes:

  1. David Shawn called the meeting to order at the Beverly Public Library at 9:40 AM.

  2. Kristen reported on the progress of her survey.  She is publishing BAP Times on the web page as her progress report on the project. All of the institutions have been surveyed except Temple B’nai Abraham, the City Clerk’s Office, and St. Mary’s.  The City Clerk is only interested in a survey of environmental and storage conditions.  Second Congregational Church and First Parish Church have been surveyed but Kobi is still writing their reports.  She asked all institutions to send her comments on their survey reports within 30 days of receiving them.

  3. She intends to write a general report for the project as a whole and to write individual reports for each of the institutions.

  4. Charles Wainwright suggests that this grant report be written so as to be useful in pursuing other grants.

  5. Crystal Atherton asked what are our group goals after this phase is complete.  Tom Scully suggested trying to get additional religious institutions to participate once we have a tangible product to show.  There was also general agreement that we should seek grants for equipment and archival materials for the participating institutions.

  6. Barbara Broudo talked about the preparations for the exhibit. Because Mary Ellen Smiley is no longer at the Beverly Historical Society; Tom Scully at the Beverly Public Library, Kevin McGrath at Beverly High School Library, Barbara Broudo at Endicott and Carol Mori have volunteered to help people scan their materials.  Barbara outlined the process for preparing and mounting exhibit materials.  Joe Seta at Studio X will donate a large sign for the exhibit.

  7. The next meeting will be a working meeting at Dane Street Congregational Church to actually construct exhibit boards.

Meeting adjourned at 11:20 AM.

Thomas F. Scully, Secretary
