Meeting Minutes 21 September 2004

Meeting attendees:

C. Mori,  T. Scully,  D. Shawn, C. Atherton, E. Israelsohn,  J. Summinsby,  J.Thomson,  B. Broudo

Meeting Minutes:

  1. David Shawn gave an overview of the committee's accomplishments of2003-2004 including the completion of the grant, hiring an Archivist, survey completion, exhibit, project presentations, publicity, website, and logo.

  2. Discussion followed on what the next steps will be for the group. Long range planning, goals, grant writing all were brought up but no final decisions were made, other than some short term goals.

    i.  Goal -Maintain visibility within the community and open next meeting as the 2004-2005 organizational meeting. Crystal Atherton will notify the papers of our meetings and Elaine Israelsohn will be the second person to provide assistance.

    ii.  Goal -Create another exhibit -City Buildings Architectural drawings .

    iii.  Goal -Bring in other city organizations -Municipal, Social, Veterans, Religious, Business, Civic, Educational.

  3. After much discussion it was decided to move the current exhibit, in total, to the Senior Center .

  4.  Tom Scully will call and see if that is possible. There as no back up site selected.

  5. Future meetings will be scheduled the first Thursday of the month from September through June.

  6. David Shawn stepped down as Chair and Barbara Broudo was selected as "Facilitator" with Carol Mori as "Facilitator in Training".

  7. Tours to other archival locations were discussed as a positive study field trip to help participating organizations. Massachusetts Archives, Wellesley College, Northeast Document Center were all mentioned as possible trips interspersed with the regular committee meetings.

  8. The committee wishes to thank David for being the inspiration and guiding force getting the project started.
