The Beverly Archives Project (BAP) held its regular meeting on 1 March, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. at the Beverly Public Library, chaired by Carol Mori. Present and representing the following organization were:
1. February minutes were approved. 2. Treasurer's Report - We have a balance of $1,110.27 3. Site Visit to the Burlington Town Hall - John Thomson e-mailed the following report: The Archivist is Dan McCormack Exclusively for municipal records since 1799. Many lost in fires in the past centuries. Has existed as a separate office (from Clerk) for the last 10 years. The $55,000 budget includes a full time archivist, and supplies. The archivist spends 60% time on records management, and 40% on archiving. The budget includes microfilming. Has state-of-art moveable shelves in a large, secure vault. Little volunteer work anymore; some seniors. Resources: Terry French, records analyst, at Sec'y of State (re records retention requests) Browns River Bindery in Essex, VT (expensive but excellent) John met with Kathy Connelly at the Beverly Clerk's Office. She would welcome a tour for BAP members. 4. Kobi e-mailed a report listing those BAP members who wanted a letter detailing her recommendations for improvement of archival support individually for each congregation. She also listed those who did not want the letter. She has not heard from everybody. However, the offer still stands for anyone who wants a letter. 5. John Suminsby suggested that we need to define strategy as well as goals. 6. BevCam – Perhaps a "Presentation" can be given. Carol is willing to film a prototype in April for future showing. 7. Beth Williams reported that the Website changes were completed. Respectfully submitted by Elaine G. Israelsohn
