 Beverly Archive Project  Minutes

October 04 2007

The Beverly Archives Project (BAP) held its October meeting at the Beverly City Hall at 7 P.M.

Present were:

Polly Armstrong -   Spar & Spindle G.S. Council Museum

Barbara Cook -  Dane Street Church

Elaine  Israelsohn -  Temple  B'nai  Abraham

Anna Langstaff – Beverly Public Library

Carol  Mori -  Dane  Street  Church

John  Suminsby – Second  Congregational  Church

John  Thomson – First  Baptist  Church

Charles Wainwright – First Parish Church

Meeting at the City Clerk’s office,  we were treated to a very enlightening tour of  the City of Beverly Archives.  It became obvious that these archives were in the hands of  caring, committed  people.  Much preservation work has been accomplished.  Much more needs to be done.  It is only a matter of money.

After the tour, a formal meeting was held, chaired by John Thomson.

Treasurer's Report -  Received  were calendar donations in the amount of  $150, and dues income of $50.  The present balance is  $ 973.87.

John Glovsky has given permission for us to use the Glovsky et al  photograph, appearing in the calendar, for publicity purposes.

A welcome letter is being composed by Barbara Broudo, Barbara Cook, and John Thomson.

The Presentation Committee will be getting together with BevCam for purposes  of  putting the Presentation on Video.

BevCam can also be an outlet for a “Quick Tips for Preservation” program.

The New England Historical and Genealogical Society would like to meet with BAP.

They are interested in local  collections.

Polly Armstrong has made arrangements for us to tour the Danvers Archives on Wednesday, December 5, at 10 A.M.   They are located in the basement of the Peabody Institute Library.

The next BAP meeting will be on November 7, at 7 P.M. in the Library.

Respectfully submitted  -  Elaine G. Israelsohn
