1.  Oral  History

Professor  Kilburn’s  talk was interesting and informative.  He was actively involved in an oral history  program  documenting  Czechoslovakian  history under communism.   He is actively involved with Endicott’s Center for Oral History and hopes it becomes a community resource  for such things as training for the conducting of interviews and the analysis & preservation of collections relating to events of historical significance.

He brought with him various recording devices for our perusal.  He also left written guides to understand better what oral history is and how to process it.

2.  Treasurer’s  Report  -  As of February, our present balance is  $1,273.60 .                   .

3.  Beverly  City Hall Archives Volunteer Project

In lieu of a February BAP meeting at the Library on January 29th,  BAP members had a tour of the Beverly  City  Hall Archives  that are in the basement.

John Thomson and Margaret Alfonso have already started working  on this project.

The Clerk’s office has set us up with a table, a computer terminal, and a log to document when BAP was working in the basement and what was done.

A major job will be to properly label boxes that are mislabeled.  For example, John and Margaret found a box with a 1938 label --- but inside the box were papers dated in the 1700’s  instead.

What BAP hopes to do is to slip papers into acid-free envelopes, put in a properly labeled archive box, and develop an inventory.  All BAP members are invited to join the project.

4.  Gift From Our Treasury  ---  It was unanimously agreed that BAP make a $300 donation to the City for archival supplies

5.  Guests  ---  Todd  Wemmer will attend our April meeting.  He will talk about equipment  used in oral history.

6.  Our next meeting will be on Thursday,  April 2nd .

            Respectfully Submitted,       Elaine G. Israelsohn
