1.  Welcome to old members and guest Elizabeth Thomsen.

2.  Minutes & Treasurer’s Report

The May 11 meeting minutes and the Treasurer’s report were distributed and approved. The balance as of the end of May was   $ 809.16.

3.  Presentation by Elizabeth Thomsen re:  Flickr

Elizabeth explained that Flickr is a photo sharing site, a sort of ‘social network’ for photographs.  Individuals can set up accounts for free on the site and individual sites  hold about 200 photos, also for $25 a professional site can be set up to house more photos.

Users of Flickr can view and comment on others photos.  The Library of Congress and the Smithsonian are putting photos onto their Flickr sites and encouraging people to ‘tag’ or add information to the photos.   The Beverly Library has a site on Flickr.    While a good site for photos it is not the appropriate place for digital images of documents.

4.  Beverly City Hall Archives

Owing to time the project was not discussed except to remind members that they are welcome to participate.

5.  The Coming Year

There was discussion on ideas for putting more items on the BAP website to get more interest in the organization.  For example: photos and interesting documents from the organizations or from our projects.    It was also suggested that we could add member biographies and photos.

6. Our next meeting will be held Thursday,  September 3rd.

Respectfully  submitted:        Margaret Alfonso
